Honorary Doctorates.

Alain Carpentier and Magdi Yacoub

Pioneers in the field of Cardiac Surgery, Alain Carpentier from Paris and Magdi Yacoub from London received the Honorary Doctorates award by the University of Coimbra on Saturday 23rd of March, by the Medical Faculty of the University of Coimbra.

Alain Carpentier, one of the creators of the artifical heart most similar to the human heart, is about to witness his project enter clinical trials.

Magdi Yacoub, professor at The Imperial College of London, is best known for his work in the field of cardiac transplantation. He also gives his name to the technique used today for treating ascending aorta aneurysms.
